What is the difference between translation and interpretation?
Translation is focused on written text, changing it from one language into another. Interpretation is verbal and changes spoken word into the language of a foreign speaker. This can even be done simultaneously, meaning that that interpretation is done in real time.
How can I request translation services?
It’s easy! Just submit the text you need translated via our service request form. We will review your submission and send you an estimate along with the expected turnaround time for your translation.
Cost is calculated based on the size, complexity, and quality of the files you need translated as well as how soon you need it completed.
How can I request interpreting Services?
We offer a complimentary 30-minute consultation with our clients when we start working with them. We can also schedule a 30-minute planning meeting if a client requires our advice to help make the meeting more inclusive and produce a more seamless interpretation. You can request the complimentary meeting by filling out a new client intake or by filling out a service request form.
How can I request services with you regularly after the complimentary consultation?
Our service request form is a convenient way to get the ball rolling on our services! There you will be able to pick translation services as well as on-site and remote interpretation.
For on-site interpretation services, we will personally go to your venue at your specified date, time, and location. If applicable, you can request several dates in the same form. You must indicate if you will need simultaneous interpretation equipment and how many headsets you will need. If the on-site meeting will be interactive, meaning that both English and Spanish speakers will participate, we recommend requesting headsets for all monolingual speakers.
Remote services provide interpreting through a virtual platform. If it is the first time you are organizing this type of meeting, we strongly suggest you take advantage of our 30-minute complimentary meeting. For ongoing requests, you will be able to fill out the dates, times, and Zoom links in the form.
Once you have submitted the request, you can expect a response within 6 hours along with the name and contact information for your assigned interpreter. You will also receive a reminder 24 hours before the event.
If you need to cancel the event, you can do so free of charge up to 24 hours before the event. Cancellations made within 24 hours will be charged in full for the amount of time requested, without adding mileage or rentals for interpreting equipment. You can cancel by sending an email to admin@javls.com or filling out the cancellation request form.
